Joy Camille (Candy) Kincade of La Porte, Texas died early in the morning of July 22 nd after enduring multiple years with FTD (Frontal Temporal Dementia). She was 70 years old.

She passed away peacefully at her home supported by her loving caregivers Susan, Edward, and Samantha Guevara and Loretta Garcia..

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Joy and Elmo Kincade. Joy (Candy) leaves us with love from her surviving family members, brother Michael and his wife Lydia Kincade. Her niece Lindsay Valtierra and children Mercedes, Romero, and Penelope Valtierra; nephews Colin and Aaron Kincade and his wife Jackie and son's Jameson, Patrick, and William. Additionally, her uncle Leonard L. Richardson and aunt Camille Lipe and numerous cousins including Kathy Richardson, Bob Parr, John and Jack Lipe (and many more). Noteworthy were visits from her "almost" sister and lifelong family friend, Suzanne Wright Rufener from Arizona, as she was nearing the end of her life.

Joy was born in 1954 living in La Porte, Texas most of her life. She first worked in a Sears catalog store in La Porte after graduating from La Porte High School. Her next jobs were in the Southeast Houston petrochemical corridor working for Hill Petroleum and other plants.

Seeking a better life she found her calling, graduating from U of H at Clear Lake with a teaching degree, educating numerous kids in area elementary schools. She spoke highly of her days in Texas City, Galena Park's Green Valley Elementary, and ended her career substitute teaching in the Pasadena ISD (thank you Kathy Birch Connolly). She loved her school kids like they were her own and cherished relationships with them for the rest of her life.

Her family lovingly thanks her caregivers Susan, Edward, and Samantha Guevara and family, and Loretta Garcia; her many friends including Melinda Hanlon, Karen Moore, Donna Baker, Linda Trigg-Kickliter Windham; and her cul-de-sac neighbors, particularly Becky Swann, Gary Cook and family, and Mary Juarez and family.

Joy will always be missed by her family, friends, and hundreds of students who have commented over the years about her positive impact in their and their families' lives.

We love you Candy!

Candy and I became family 69 years ago. Our parents were friends, that worked and played together. Candy and I went on vacations together and many fun outings. Time apart never seemed to get in the way of our relationship. I love her now like I loved her then. She always made laugh. I will miss you and your good heart.

I will never forget spending time together during the summers of our childhood. Candy and I were the same age so we often played together. It was such a simple and lovely time of our lives.
God speed to your resting place. May you be in peace for eternity.

I taught school with Joy at GreenValley Elementary... we were first peers then became close friends. Her name was perfect.. she was a "joy" ... Joy was always doing for others.. if not helping someone buy a needed car or buying a coat for a needy teacher, she was always keeping her students supplied with tools they needed for class ( never asking for acknowledgment)
My family and I will miss her dearly
Until heaven Joy
Forever friends,
Jo

Aunt Candy was a truly special soup. She was kind, JOYful, and full of warmth. Her love for children and teaching left a lasting mark on so many young lives. We will always remember her bright smile and the way she lit up a room with her presence. Her love for music and her gentle spirit made the world a better place. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
