MOULTRIE, GA- Joyce Elaine Wilson Hewitt, 86, of Moultrie, passed away Friday, December 13, 2024, at Legacy Village at Park Regency.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM, Monday, December 16, 2024, at Heritage Church with the Reverend David Brown and the Reverend John Eubanks officiating. A private family interment will follow.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30 PM at Heritage Church. They will also receive friends at the home of Scott and Lisa Hewitt.
Casketbearers will be Donnie Edwards, Rusty Clary, Gene Potts, Joe Amorie, Rick Holland, Roy Reeves and David Hancock.
Honorary casketbearer will be Ron Lewis.
Born November 4, 1938, in Montgomery, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Wyatt Cooper Wilson, Sr. and Ora Mae Cooper Wilson. Mrs. Joyce, known as “Grams” to those who loved her, was a former teacher at Moultrie High School where the 1968 yearbook was dedicated to her. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends and enjoyed reading, gardening, playing with her cats and playing card games with her friends. Mrs. Joyce was a hospice volunteer and mentor at Sunset School for many years. She was a founding member of Heritage Church and Hope House Crisis Pregnancy Center. Mrs. Joyce was the past president of the Moultrie Women’s Club. She was a graduate of Auburn University where she was a member of the Phi Mu Sorority.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Wayne Hewitt; brother, Wyatt Cooper Wilson, Jr.
Survivors include her son, Scott Wilson Hewitt and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Laura Hewitt Mobley and husband Harden, Wilson Edward Hewitt; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Grace Mobley; several other extended family members, church family and dear friends.
