OBITUARY OF JOYCE HELEN ZACCARDI RAINALDI
April 9,1930-July 30,2025
Joyce Helen Rainaldi was born April 9, 1930 to Helen Ness in Duluth, Minnesota.
Her immediate family moved to Utah when she was 13.
Joyce graduated from the old Lincoln High School in Orem, and then attended BYU for 2 semesters.
Her family was members of the old historic church of St. Francis Assissi, in
Provo, Utah. And it was there, at church, that she met her husband Julius Lee Zaccardi, who had recently returned home from the Navy.
They were married on February 11, 1950.
They began their life together in Provo, and built their first home on 700 East 300 North.
Joyce and Juke had 6 children together. Michael Lee Zaccardi (Ginger), Mark Oriente Zaccardi (Sheila), Nancy Helen Zaccardi Williams (Steve), James George Zaccardi (Jamie), Peter John Zaccardi (Trena), and Patrick Lee Zaccardi-deceased (Jodee).
In 1973-1974, Joyce and Julius built their dream home in Orem,Utah. Julius passed away on November 17,1976. Joyce remained in her home for the next 50 years.
Joyce married Joseph Angelo Rainaldi Sr. at St. Francis Catholic Church on May 23,1982.
Together they had 17 children, and became a BIG family! All of a sudden, Joyce's calendar became so full of important dates to remember, that she had to get a bigger calendar.
Joseph's children are as listed- Christine, Joseph Peter, Ann Marie, Susan, Dennis Paul, Robert John, Barbara Ann, Michael Barry, Paul Angelo, Elizabeth, Theresa.
Joyce was a very talented woman and a hard worker! Of all her accomplishments, her family and Church were most important to her!
Some of her favorite hobbies were gardening, sewing, quilting, painting, ceramics, making porcelain dolls and figurines square dancing and traveling. Every new baby was welcomed with a quilt!
She and Grpa Joe would attend any and all ballgames, programs, birthday parties, etc. to which they were invited!
Joyce dedicated her whole life to serving her Church and it's parishioners - funeral dinners, fundraising boutiques, prayer services, community outreach for the needy, Women of St. Francis guild, singing in the choir, etc.
Joyce was a woman of great faith and family!
She passed away peacefully on the morning of July 30 2025, with Steve singing her Home to Heaven.
Our family would graciously like to thank the ENTIRE wonderful staff at Legacy Village of Provo for loving and caring for our Mom this past year! You became part of our family!
We would also like to give a heartfelt thanks to Renew Hospice and their compassionate caregivers!
