SALEM - Judith Lee Bell, 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Crandall Medical Center.
Judith, affectionately known as "Judy," was born on January 30, 1944, in Salem, Ohio, a daughter of Richard L. and Priscilla J. (Berry) Scullion.
Living in Salem most of her life, Judy attended Salem High School. On September 22, 1962, she married Thomas J. Bell, and they built a life filled with joy and commitment until his passing on June 22, 2008. Their union was blessed with two daughters and Judy embraced her role as a wife, mother, and grandmother with her whole heart. After her children were grown, Judy found a new calling as a caregiver and health care aide in both home and facility settings. She took great pride in her work and provided comfort and companionship to those in her care.
Adventure and laughter were never far from Judy's side. Judy enjoyed traveling and exploring new places, creating many lasting memories with trips to Las Vegas and the Bahamas with family and friends. Taking pride in her appearance, Judy never missed a chance to go shopping for the latest fashions.
She found joy in dining out, assembling jigsaw puzzles, watching movies, listening to the classics on the radio, and delighting in her favorite treats, ice cream and jellybeans. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her family and her title of "Gram." Judy's later years were spent at Copeland Oaks, where she continued to embrace life's simple joys. Fishing in the property's pond with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was a cherished pastime.
Judy leaves to carry on her memory, her daughters, Jane (Chris) Blackwood of Salem, and Judith (Brian) Bonam of Wellsville; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, Judy was preceded in death by siblings, Nancy Bell, and Thomas Scullion.
Friends and family will be received from 10-11 a.m., on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Stark Memorial Funeral Home, 1014 E. State St., Salem, where a funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. Burial will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery.
