Judith "Judy" L. (Korb) Mathes, age 74, formerly of rural New Holstein and Chilton, passed away with her family by her side on Friday, July 11, 2025, at Brillion West Haven where she's resided since this past January.
She was born July 24, 1950, at St. Agnes Hospital to Gottfried & Estelle (Jacky) Korb. Judy attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School in Marytown and graduated from New Holstein High School in 1969.
On May 23, 1970, she married her high school sweetheart, Anton "Tony" Mathes at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marytown. Tony preceded her in death on August 8, 2017.
Judy was a homemaker while raising her three children. Throughout the years, she babysat other children in her home and was employed with several area businesses. Judy was employed with the State Bank of Chilton until her retirement.
Judy enjoyed baking, playing cards with friends & family, playing volleyball, tending to her gardens, spending time at their cabin up North, vacationing in Door County and traveling to many other destinations. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren.
She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein and a former member of St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown. Faith was a very important part of Judy's life and provided her strength and comfort in her final days.
Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, her son, Tim (Nicki) Mathes and their daughter, Lauren, her daughter, Tammy (Mike) Rudie and their children, Jalen, Olivia, and Griffin, her son, Bobby (Jen) Mathes and their children, Macy, Grayson, and Harrison; her brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, James Schaefer, Donna Korpi Korb, Harvey Jr. (Sally) Mathes, Dorothy (Dave) Wollersheim, William (Nancy) Mathes, Helen Mathes, Edward (Judy) Mathes, Bernice (Gilbert) Mattson, Melvin (Judy) Mathes, Donald (Maribeth) Mathes, Ervin (Paula) Mathes, and David Mischo. Judy is further survived by her godchildren, Vicki Berandt, Mike Schaefer and Brenda Patenaude; numerous nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Preceding Judy in death were her husband, Tony; an infant son; her parents, Gottfried & Estelle Korb; her brothers & sister, Andy (Ginny) Korb, Marvin (Geraldine) Korb, and Mary Ann Schaefer; her father-in-law & mother-in-law, Harvey Sr. & Angeline Mathes; her brother-in-law & sisters-in-law, Jerome Mathes, JoAnn Mischo, and Lou Mathes.
A Liturgy Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, WI 53061. Rev. Alvan Amadi will officiate. Judy will be laid to rest next to her husband, Tony, in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery.
