Judith Ann Shadowens, 82, of Mulkeytown, passed away at 1:09 p.m., Monday, April 21, 2025, at her home.
Judith was born on June 5, 1942, in Herrin to Dalton and Omedia (Bradshaw) Cox. She was united in marriage to Clarence Irvin "Shad" Shadowens in Murphysboro on August 8, 1974. They shared 49 years of marriage together, before he preceded her in death on November 3, 2023.
Judith was a graduate of Herrin High School. She was retired having been a bus driver for the Zeigler-Royalton School district for over 20 years. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed going to see them play at Busch Stadium and keeping up with them on TV. Her greatest joy in life was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed knitting in her spare time.
Judith is survived by her children, Darla (Wayne) Peterson of Evansville, IN, Greg Olkoski of Herrin, Jeff (Beckie) Olkoski of Royalton, Jason (Suzan) Olkoski of Herrin, and Jeff (Ann) Shadowens of Virginia Beach, VA; nine grandchildren, Timothy (April) Peterson, Shay Olkoski, Heather Olkoski, Ashlie (Tyler) Cole, Kelsie Olkoski, Sarah Olkoski, Kayla (Brandon) Teal, Brittany Shadowens, and Ryan Shadowens; five great-grandchildren, Ella, Nora, and Jada Peterson, Hallie and Cambrie Cole; brother, Carl (Gloria) Cox; sister-in-law, Kathy Cox. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband; stepson, Jim Shadowens; grandson, Branden Hewlett; brother, Reb Cox.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Royalton Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Bob Flowers officiating. Interment will follow at Zeigler City Cemetery.
Visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Thursday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Royalton Church of the Nazarene. Envelopes will be available at the church on the day of the service.
Vantrease-Pyle Funeral Home in Royalton is entrusted with the arrangements.
