In Loving Memory of Betty Jean Vaughn
April 28, 1937 – July 11, 2025
It is with deep sorrow and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Betty Jean Vaughn, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who departed this life peacefully on July 11, 2025, at the age of 88.
Born on April 28, 1937, in Medina County, Texas, Betty lived a life devoted to her family, her faith, and her community. She was the cherished wife of Glenn Hammar Vaughn Sr. for 46 years, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering support.
Betty was a nurturing and devoted mother to 3 children, a proud grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and a doting great-grandmother to 15 great-grandchildren. Her home was a gathering place for family, friends and neighbors alike, where traditions were honored, stories were shared, and everyone felt welcome and loved.
An excellent cook, talented baker and a passionate gardener, Betty found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether she was tending to her flower beds, baking one of her famous cakes, or cooking up her legendary hot sauce and Christmas candy, she poured love into everything she did.
Her faith and service were central to her life. She was a dedicated member of Hot Wells Baptist church for many decades where she served joyfully in the church nursery and as a valued member of the kitchen committee.
She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, warm heart, tireless generosity and her profound ability to love so deeply. Whether it was her delicious cooking, her thoughtful advice, or her quiet strength, Betty touched countless lives and leaves behind a legacy of kindness and grace.
She is survived by her children, Glenn Jr. (and spouse Yvonne), Jack (and spouse Donna), and Gayle, her grandchildren, Glenn III (spouse Stacey and family), Charlotte (spouse Kevin and family), Stacy (spouse Dan and family), Misty (spouse Tim and family), Blake (spouse Amanda and family), Kyle (spouse Crystal and family) and Ryan (and family). She was preceded in death by parents, Randolph and Nora, brother R.J. and husband Glenn Sr.
Visitation will be at 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2025 and a service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 17, 2025, both at Mission Park South Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Mission Burial Park South. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Arthritis Foundation (www.arthritis.org).
Betty's hands may now be at rest, but the seeds she planted will continue to bloom for generations to come. Though she may be gone from our sight, she will forever remain in our hearts.
