Julia Joan Pozwilka, 100, of Granger passed away surrounded by her family on July 10, 2025. Born to Frank and Anna Bralick, she was one of ten children, living and working on their farm in Granger surviving the depression with plenty of good food. Her family remained close as they were each other's friends and were always there to help when needed. She was the first in her family to graduate high school when she graduated from Washington Clay High School and went straight to work at the Studebaker Corporation. She married the love of her life George Pozwilka in 1943, before he went overseas during WWII with the US Army. Their daughter Sandra was born in 1948 and after Sandra married, Julia went back to school and secured a job at the First Bank of Mishawaka. When she and George retired, they spent many winters in Winter Haven, Florida. They were avid boosters for Penn High School where Sandra graduated from and remained boosters for many years, traveling to football games and even to state finals. They kept active with activities such as bowling and golf leagues. Julia remained a big sports fan of Notre Dame and NFL football along with PGA golf and the Cubs. While other Grandmas watched soaps, she was happy if there was a sports event on tv. She had a green thumb, always having plants and flowers inside and outside. She was always generous to family while being frugal for herself. She enjoyed doing things with family, especially her grand and great grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George, and siblings, Frank, Geza, Joseph, Edward, Carl, Robert, Frances, Anna, and Irene.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra Stephens, grandson Sean (Kim) Norris, Granddaughters Amy (John) Evans and Rachel (Eric) Higby, Great grandchildren Allison (Jordan) Tancos, Kyle (Elizabeth) Norris, Anna Evans, Paige Evans, and Ryan Evans, plus great-great-grandchildren Charlie Tancos and Sutton Norris.
A visitation will be held Wednesday July 16, 2025 at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. Osceola, IN., from 11am to 1pm. A funeral will immediately follow the visitation. The burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
