Julie "Edie" Mosley Gathings, a beloved member of the Gaston County community, was born on October 23, 1964, in Gaston County, NC. She lived a life dedicated to love, compassion, and service, touching the hearts of all who knew her. Sadly, Edie passed suddenly on July 5, 2025, at CaroMont Regional Medical Center, leaving behind a legacy that will forever resonate in the lives of her family and friends.

Edie was a proud graduate of Ashbrook High School in 1983, where she demonstrated her commitment and spirit by participating in the ROTC. Her love for serving others continued throughout her career, as she devoted over 18 years to working at Holy Angels in Belmont. There, she poured her heart into caring for the children, a testament to her character and one of her proudest accomplishments. Edie found immense joy in the time spent with the young souls at Holy Angels, and her impact on their lives was immeasurable.

A member of Zion Baptist Church, Edie also fostered deep connections at Temple Baptist Church over the years. Her strong faith provided a foundation for her loving nature, which she shared with every person she encountered. Edie was not only a dedicated volunteer but a loving wife and sister-in-law, cherished by her family.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 41 years, Sammy Ray Gathings, who will greatly miss the warmth and light she brought into his life. Edie's brothers, Jeffrey and James E. Mosley, alongside her sister-in-law Abbla Gathings, remember her with deep affection and admiration.

Edie is preceded in death by her loving parents, James Edward Mosley and Joyce Mae Walters Mosley, whose nurturing spirits guided her throughout her life. Though they are no longer with us, their influence remains in the values and love that Edie carried in her heart.

A visitation will be held on July 10, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life from 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 10th, both at Withers & Whisenant Funeral Home and Cremation in Gastonia, NC with Rev. Leo Kuyendall officiating. Burial will follow at Gaston Memorial Park, War Memorials section, 1200 S New Hope Road, Gastonia, NC

Pallbearers will be David Paige, Kevin Walters, James Mosley, Jr., Healther Mosley, Daniel Sherrill, and Ronnie Godfrey.

Edie’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will forever be remembered. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
