Martha Ellen Hamm, a beacon of kindness and the epitome of a nurturing spirit, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Richmond, Kentucky. Born on December 15, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Martha's life was a testament to love, family, and faith. She was a cherished daughter, a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Martha was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Justin Elmer and Lucy Francis Rogers Blevins; her husband, Estel Paul Hamm; and her siblings, Glenn Blevins, Ina Cash, Wanda Proctor, Paul Blevins, and Bob Blevins. Her legacy continues through her daughters, Kathy (Bobby) Dees, Karen Coleman, and Kandi (George) Hylton; her four siblings, Carl (Sharon) Blevins, David Blevins, Carolyn (Bill) Sluss, and Betty (Ted) Sutton; her seven grandchildren, Kristi Wise, Natalee (Brandon) Eaton, Neisha (Shane) Cameron, Seth Taylor, Haley (Patrick) Lainez, Garrett Coleman, and Eli Hylton; her eight great-grandchildren, Hayden, Izaiah, Molly, Lilly, Levi, Brooks, Knox, and Evren; and her great-great-grandchild, Briggs.
Throughout her life, Martha dedicated herself to the well-being of her family, embodying the role of a homemaker with grace and diligence. A long-standing member of the Providence Church of Christ, Martha's faith was unwavering, and she instilled the values of compassion and generosity in all who knew her.
Martha's interests were simple yet profound. She found joy in the beauty of nature, whether it was pulling weeds or watching the birds that visited her backyard. Her Sunday drives were a source of tranquility and pleasure, a tradition cherished by her family. Martha's big heart and her ability to find happiness in the small things in life were a lesson in contentment for everyone around her.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Martha would describe her as the best mother, Nana, and friend one could ever have. She was a faithful and dedicated wife and the most dedicated mother. Her kindness was her hallmark, touching the lives of many and leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Lakes Funeral Home, with Pastor Robbie Cable officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Willailla. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Services will be livestreamed at www.lakesfuneralhome.com
Pallbearers will be Seth Taylor, Garrett Coleman, Eli Hylton, Isaiah Frederick, Shane Cameron, and Brandon Eaton. Honorary bearers will be Levi Cameron, Brooks Thigpin, Knox Lainez, Evren Lainez, Briggs Benge
