Karen S. Strzyzewski, age 68, of Manitowoc, passed away Sunday evening, June 29, 2025 at Theda Regional Medical Center, Appleton.
Karen was born on September 27, 1956 in Antigo, WI, daughter of the late Wolfgang and Frances (Novak) Rettinger. She was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1974. Karen then graduated from Lakeshore Technical College with a degree in nursing. She worked at Holy Family Memorial Hospital for many years until her retirement. On October 11, 2003 she married Guy Strzyzewski at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on April 25, 2022. Karen enjoyed the simple things in life, including spending time with her cat, Spaz, and her nieces, great nieces and great nephews.
Survivors include her siblings: Linda (Scott) Tegelman, Manitowoc, Tom (Brenda) Rettinger, Francis Creek, Jerry (Sally) Rettinger, Manitowoc; seven nieces: Kristin, Heather, Ashley, Katie, Sarah, Rachel and Haley; great nieces and great nephews: Jay, Sam, Taylor, Jax, Logan, Kylee and Noah; three step-children: Guy Jr., Syvilla and Jennifer; along with step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers-in-law: Rodney (Rachel) Strzyzewski and Charles Jagemann; two sisters-in-law: Faith Gannon and Lynn (Lonnie) Erdmann; and her special cat: Spaz. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Ervin and Marion Strzyzewski; one sister-in-law: Sue Jagemann; and one brother-in-law: Patrick Gannon.
Private family services will be held and entombment will take place at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
