Karin Carlander Obituary

Karin Margaretta Carlander, age 60, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 5th, 2025, at 9:59 AM surrounded by loved ones in Minneapolis, Minnesota - the city where she was born, raised, and lived a full, vibrant life.
A true wild child from the start, Karin made her mark early on, cheerleading on the sidelines at St. Louis Park High School before going on to attend Augsburg College. During her college years, she pursued her love for travel and studied abroad in Europe - a life-changing experience that led her to meet her future husband in Sweden. Karin and Patrick Carlander built a beautiful life together, filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable adventures throughout their 33-year marriage. In October of 1998, they welcomed their daughter Annika into the world, a moment that would become one of Karin's greatest joys.
Karin was deeply devoted to her family and fiercely loyal to her friends. She was known for her quick wit, fearless honesty, and a fiery spirit that left an impression on everyone she met. She listened intently, spoke boldly, and loved with her whole heart. Whether traveling, trying a new dish, or sharing a laugh that filled the room, Karin brought passion and energy to every moment.
She is survived by her loving husband Patrick Carlander; daughter Annika Carlander; mother Janet Tysk; sister Karla Dahl; niece Sydney Dahl; nephew Alex Dahl; and brother-in-law Mark Dahl. Karin is preceded in death by her beloved father, Lars Tysk.
Karin was a force - a sassy, strong, radiant woman who embodied both fire and warmth. As we remember her, we carry forward her legacy of fierce love, loud laughter, and unapologetic honesty.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota in Edina on Thursday, July 17th from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM CST. This will not be a formal service, but rather a time for loved ones to stop by, say goodbye, and connect with the family.
