Karl Allen Baker, age 82, of Centerville, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2025 at his home.
Karl was born on February 16, 1943 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Iona M. Burton. He graduated high school in Kansas. On June 29, 1991, Karl was united in marriage to Errolyn (Huntington) Bilson.
Karl worked maintenance for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and welding art work. He cherished spending time with his friends and family. He was also a proud member of the Mt. Ararat Church in Moulton, Iowa. On December 15, 2024, Karl made the decision to get saved. He was then baptized on January 26, 2025.
Left to honor Karl's memory are his wife over 34 years, Errolyn Bilson-Baker of Centerville; his children, Michael (Janice) Bilson of Edgerton, Kansas, Lisa (Otto) Martin of Lawrence, Kansas, Tonja Page of Milan, Missouri, and Marla (David) Small of Centerville; his grandson, Jace Walker of Lee Summit, Missouri; his great granddaughter, Carly Christionson of Lee Summit, Missouri; his siblings, Terry (Jennifer) O'Brien of Kansas City, Missouri, Barry (Andrea) O'Brien of Southport, North Carolina, Cynthia Villa of Kansas City, Kansas, Gerald Ray O'Brien of Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, Lin Wesley-Brown of Portland, Oregon, and Rae Mills of Texas; as well as several extended family members and friends.
Karl was preceded in death by his mother, Iona M (Burton) O'Brien; his stepfather, Arthur O'Brien; his brother, Kenneth Baker; and his sister, Kathryn "Katie" O'Brien.
Funeral services for Karl will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, July 18, 2025 at Mt. Ararat Church, Moulton, Iowa with Pastor Matt Pringle officiating. Burial will follow the service at Mt. Ararat Cemetery in Moulton. Visitation will take place Friday, July 18, 2025 at Mt. Ararat Church, with the family greeting friends from 9:30AM-11:00AM. Memorials have been established to American Cancer Society, ATTN: Baker Family, 501 North 18th Street, Centerville, Iowa 52544.
