It is with profound sadness, the family of Katherine "Kathy" Anne Green announces her passing on December 27, 2024, in Lacey, Washington. Kathy was born on April 21, 1950, in Olympia, Washington, where she spent a life enriched by love, community, and the warmth she so generously shared with all who knew her.
Kathy was a beloved figure, known for her kindness and generosity. She embodied a spirit of giving that touched everyone she met. Her selflessness and ability to see the best in every situation were hallmarks of her character, attributes that she carried with grace, a gentle smile always illuminating her face.
A graduate of Olympia High School, Class of 1968, Kathy pursued her passion for education, obtaining a teaching degree from Evergreen State College. Her professional journey took her through diverse roles, including positions at Peoples Department Store and the Daily Olympian. Kathy enriched the Olympia School District as a substitute teacher and served as a respected Variety Manager at Safeway Stores Inc for 25 dedicated years.
Beyond her career, Kathy took immense pleasure in planting flowers, embroidery, painting, crafting, and reading. She had a particular knack for hosting family gatherings, where her loving personality shone brightly, drawing family and friends into an atmosphere of warmth and joy. Aside from her career Kathy's hands, skilled in crafts, painting and embroidery, crafted magic from simple threads and paint, while her heart lovingly cultivated her flowers and hosting family gatherings reflecting her boundless love for those close to her heart
Kathy leaves behind her devoted husband of 51 years, Ron Green, her cherished children, Eric and Trisha Green, and her dear sisters Debbie Pittman (Bucky), Cindy Lang, and Suzie Helland (Rick). She is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews who she adored. Kathy is proceeded in death by her parents, S. Wayne Swanson and Frances DeFord, her stepparents Arletta Swanson and Gene DeFord, and her beloved grandparents, Ted and Mary Swanson and John and Anna Horgdal
A service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on January 26, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, 2909 Martin Way E, Olympia, WA 98506 #318.
In remembering Kathy, we celebrate a woman of boundless love and compassion, forever etched in the hearts of her family and friends. Her legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to the happiness and well-being of those she cherished.
