Katherine (Kathy) N (Junkins) Lytle, of Eliot, ME, passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Saturday evening, June 14, 2025.
Kathy was born on October 25th, 1943, in Kittery, one of four children to the late Hermon S Junkins and Dorothea R. (Mason) Junkins. Kathy attended school in Kittery.
Kathy met the love of her life, the late Roger W. Lytle of York, in 1958, and they were married on January 11, 1959. They shared 38 wonderful years. They built their home in Eliot. The two of them would share many wonderful and exciting travels over the years with family and friends. They would spend their days fishing, camping, snowmobiling, stock car racing, and traveling to many of the fairs in Maine and New Hampshire, stopping at the occasional yard sale along the way.
Through the years, Kathy always tended her flower gardens, which flourished under her attention. However, Kathy's green thumb skipped a generation, and on occasion, she would go and rescue her daughter's gardens. Thankfully, Kathy did pass it along to her grandchildren, Jessica and David, who are grateful to her for planting the seed for their love of gardening. We will always appreciate the time we spent together, all the wisdom she shared with us, along with her passion for all of us. Kathy's greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. Kathy never missed sending a card for the holidays or birthdays to family and friends.
Kathy always enjoyed crocheting, knitting, and quilting. She loved visiting and playing Scrabble and Bingo, along with the occasional dinners and ice cream socials with her friends and neighbors at Baran Place. Upon her failing health, Kathy's friends and neighbors would come and check on her, bringing her special treats, such as popsicles, and keeping her company. They always made sure her window and shades were open so she could see and hear the birds outside.
Katherine's family would like to extend their gratitude to the friends and neighbors who stopped by and visited with her daily. Also, a special thank you to all the wonderful people from Beacon Hospice who provided such comfort and care, taking care of her needs daily.
In addition to her Late husband, Roger W Lytle, and her parents, Hermon and Dorothea Junkins, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, David H Babkirk; sister Marion Wollerscheid; brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Wollerscheid; sister-in-law LaDonna (Phyllis) Junkins, brother Herbert Junkins, Lytle brothers-in-laws Fred, Carl, Charles, Wayne, Bradley, Philip, Lytle sisters-in-laws Beverly Mack and Donna Cole.
Katherine is survived by her daughter Teresa Babkirk of Eliot, grandaughter Jessica Glendinning of Scarborough, great grandchildren, Will, Marina and Nolan Glendinning, grandson David J Babkirk and Wife Helen (Stamelos) Babkirk of Berwick and great grandsons Anastasios (Ty) Barrows, Andreas Barrows and Austin Babkirk, her brother Edward and wife Elleanor Junkins of Kittery, Brother-in-law Robert and wife Linda Lytle in SC, Sisters-in-laws Janice, Linda, Kim, Barbara Lytle in ME along with many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends scattered across the country.
