Kathhleen Cheche, 80, of Yorktown, VA, died on Friday, July 18, 2025, at Dominion Village Assisted Living in Poquoson, VA.

Born in Perth Amboy, she resided in Metuchen for many years before moving to Yorktown, VA, 4 years ago.

Lovingly known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and countless others, Kathy was bold, outspoken and fiercely loyal. Often the loudest person in the room, in more ways than one, her presence was unmistakable and unforgettable. She loved tulips, carnations, romance ballads, and gossiping on the phone; but above all else, her family. Tough, yet tender in her own way, her love was deep, honest, frequently wrapped in laughter and few curse words here and there. Her heart, and her front door, were always opened to those who needed her. Life without her will be a little quieter, and a lot less full. We will miss her endlessly.

Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Robert Cheche, Sr.; her parents Julius and Catherine Richheimer; as well as her siblings Rosie, Frank, Paul, and Moe.

Surviving are her sister, Martha Gulotta and her husband Paul; her daughters Pamela Vazquez and her husband Robert, Lisa Mako and her husband Daniel, and Jennifer Cheche; sons Robert Cheche Jr. and Antonio Cheche; her grandchildren Christopher, Brock, Annie, Janice, Tina, Raymond, Matthew, Shawn, Emily, Nicholas, Diana, Sarah, Randi, Rachel, Nicole, Pamela, Frank and Aiden. She is also survived by 35 great-grandchildren.

The visitation will take place on Sunday, July 27, 2025, from 2-5pm and Monday, July 28, 2025, from 11am-1pm at Costello-Runyon Funeral Home, 568 Middlesex Ave., Metuchen.
