Kathleen was born in Logan, Utah on July 2, 1933, to Lothaire Rogers and Ruth Nielsen Rich.
Kathy passed away July 24, 2025, surrounded by her family.
As a child she lived in Logan, UT. When Kathy was 4, her little sister DeeAnn joined their family. When Kathy was 5, her family moved to Washington DC for her father to attend law school. Kathy remembered going to historical sites, and even going to the White House for the Easter Egg roll. She enjoyed learning and loved to read. The family later moved back to Salt Lake. When Kathy was 14 and 16, her brothers Douglas and Gordon were born. Kathy and DeeAnn were thrilled to have little brothers.
She married Theodore C. Bjornn on December 28, 1953. They were blessed with five children: Kent born 1954; triplet daughters, Elaine, Eileen, and Colleen born 1956; Brent born 1959.
They lived in Salmon, Boise, and Moscow, ID and Logan, UT, where they raised their children. They divorced in 1984. She graduated from University of Idaho in 1985, with Bachelor's degree and later received a Master's degree in education. Kathy moved to Salt Lake City in 1996 to be closer to her mother. She married William Sackett in 2003. He passed away in 2009.
Kathy was a faithful Latter Day Saint, serving in many callings, RS, YW, Primary presidents, wherever she was needed. She belonged to Daughters of Utah Pioneers. Kathy worked at JC Penny's for many years, Utah Food Service, Granite School District, the LDS Institute at the University of Idaho. She served in the Jordan River Temple for several years. She was a loving and supportive Mother, being involved in whatever her children's and grandchildren's activities were.
Kathy was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth; father, Lothaire; sister, DeeAnn; and son- in-law, Scott Wendling.
She is survived by her two brothers, Doug (Linda), Gordon (JoLynne) and her five wonderful children, Kent Rich Bjornn (Valerie Pearson) Elaine Noble (Victor), Eileen Wendling, Colleen Killpack (Michael), Brent (Michelle Wolf). She has 27 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be Thursday, July 31 at the Highland Park Stake Center, 11632 S Night Heron Rd, South Jordan 84009 at 11:00 am, with the viewing at 9:30-10:30 am. Burial will be at Elysian Gardens, Salt Lake City.
