Kathryn Grace Kennedy Sizelove, 87, a vibrant, compassionate friend, passed peacefully Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Brookdale Senior Living in Shawnee, Kansas.
Kay was born on September 9, 1937, in Lafayette, Indiana to the late Paul J. Kennedy and Theone (Hilsabeck) Kennedy. She attended St. Mary’s Academy in Austin, Texas. Kay also was a professed Sister of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Tipton, Indiana. She graduated from St. Joseph College, Rensselaer, Indiana and received her Master’s in Religious Studies from Loyola University in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Kay married Phil Sizelove on April 28, 1973 and he preceded her in death on August 13, 2021. Kay is survived by her son, James Paul of Lawrence, Kansas, brothers, Martin Kennedy and Tim (Norine) Kennedy, and sisters, Ella Carroll (Mike) Mannebach, and Kevin Kennedy (Stu) Lunsford as well as numerous loving nieces, loving nephews, and close friends including Kim Hensom and Theresa and Dave Goddard.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her sisters Joan Baulos, Sally Griffin, Margie Hunnicutt, and brothers, Jack Kennedy and Pat Kennedy. Kay enthusiastically cheered on her favorite sports teams; Notre Dame football, Jayhawks basketball and of course the Royals and the Chiefs. She loved her visits to Ireland and Marco Island, dancing and being IRISH!
Kay served humanity with empathy and enthusiasm demonstrated by her mission trip to Haiti, where she ministered among the Haitian people with love amidst the danger of civil unrest. Kay was also a dedicated Sponsor in AL-ANON. Her spirit will continue to lift her family, close friends, and all those she touched including the caregivers at Brookdale Senior Living, Evergreen Hospice Care and Frank Jambrosic who provided compassionate care and support through Kay’s final journey.
Services will be held Friday, December 6th, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Oxford, Indiana, with visitation starting at 9:30 am and Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Healing House KC.https://www.healinghousekc.org/ Hahn-Groeber Funeral Home of Oxford is caring for the Sizelove family.
