Obituary of Kathy Holcomb Brock
Kathy Holcomb Brock took her journey to the arms of Jesus early on the morning of Independence Day, July 4, 2025. Today she stands straight and tall. She is young and healthy and has no pain as she worships at the Throne of God.
Kathy was born in Clifton, Texas on December 3, 1943, to Norman Franklin Holcomb and Mary Catherine (Massey) Holcomb. Her family moved from Belmont Shore, California to Fort Worth in 1954, and she attended McLean Junior High and was a 1961 graduate of Paschal High School, going on to attend Texas Tech University.
Throughout the 1970s Kathy worked as a secretary for the Pathology Lab at JPS Hospital, and in 1979 met her husband-to-be Jimmie Brock. They married in 1980 and made their home in Hurst.
She was a true Texan and patriot, being a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and proud of her deep Texas roots. She would often talk of her great grandfather who came to the Walnut Springs area in 1850, and her great grandmother being born in Texas in 1832.
Kathy was an amazing and wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother known to the grands and great grands as Grammy. Although she would pass to her descendants the stories of her family, Kathy's greatest legacy would be the deep impact she would have on her family, and the people she would come to know. Kathy would teach her children and grandchildren to know and love Jesus, and to each she would live the example of tender love, steadfast loyalty, unwavering integrity, and lasting commitment. Kathy always dressed in a way that matched her spirit – bold, radiant, and sparkling. She just didn't walk into a room; she lit it up. She was beautiful inside and out strong-willed and fiercely devoted to her family. You always knew where she stood, and you always felt her love.
To her friends she was a trusted confidant, and in the spirit of the Texas culture in which she thrived, Kathy was always there to help, whether it be teaching a young mother to sew drapes for a first home (she was an amazing seamstress), or to bring a meal, or to provide comfort and words of encouragement in hard times. She was a woman of constant prayer and intercession not only for her family but for those she met who were seeking God's guidance. She loved the ladies of Fort Worth Teen Challenge and took every opportunity to talk with them, encourage them, and pray with them.
Never one to sit still, Kathy was always about the business of making her home a place of comfort, and would welcome any and all who came through the door. As a gifted interior decorator, this place would reflect the elegance and style of the woman herself.
Kathy was truly a Proverbs 31 woman of God, and her husband could rightfully proclaim: "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all."
Kathy Holcomb Brock is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Natalie Holcomb Scarberry, and granddaughter Emily Ellen Adams.
Surviving is her husband Jimmie Brock of Hurst, daughters Lee Leonhart of Healdsburg, California, Lisa Adams (Al) of Boyd, Texas, and Cristal Ruddell (Chris) of Elgin, Texas. Son Devin Brock (Alissa) of Elgin, Texas. Grandaughters Lindsey Adams of The Colony, Allison Britz (Stephen) of Woods Cross, Utah. Abby and Anna Ruddell, James, Caroline and Lila Brock, all of Elgin, Texas. Great Grandsons Jack and Liam Britz, and Great Granddaughter Emily Britz of Woods Cross, Utah. A memorial service is planned for October 4, 2025 at a place to be announced.
