With deep sorrow and hearts full of love, we announce the passing of Katy Dullcena Starr, who left this world far too soon on June 8, 2025, in Yukon, Oklahoma. She was 29 years old.
Born August 6, 1995, in Enid, Oklahoma, Katy was a radiant light to all who knew her-known for her huge heart, infectious laugh, and boundless love for her family and friends.
Katy grew up in Lamont, Oklahoma, and graduated from Deer Creek-Lamont High School in 2013. A gifted athlete, she had a deep love for sports. She helped lead the DCLA girls' basketball team to the state tournament three years in a row and earned All-State honors her senior year. She also excelled in track and field, placing in the top three in shot put and discus, and was passionate about softball.
After high school, Katy dedicated her life to caring for others as a Certified Medication Aide and Certified Nurse Aide. Most recently, she found deep purpose and happiness in her work at Billings Fairchild Center, a place she dearly loved.
Katy's passions were as big as her heart. She had a fierce passion for cat rescue, and a soft spot for every single stray that crossed her path. She dreamed of one day opening a cat rescue of her own-a place where every forgotten feline could find a second chance. She loved cheering on OU Softball and DCLA Boys Basketball, and never missed a chance to make someone laugh-even if it was inappropriate. That was Katy: joyful, unfiltered, and full of life. Her ability to bring laughter, even in the hardest moments, was one of her greatest gifts.
Above all, Katy's greatest love was her nieces and nephews. She poured her heart into being the best aunt, always doing her best to show up to every game, event and special moments-showing up for every game, recital, and special moments. Her pride for them knew no bounds.
Katy is survived by: her loving mother, Susan Starr; her siblings, Trey Williams, Carly and husband, Bryan Mendenhall, Clayton and wife, Katherine Hoemann, Philip Starr, and Amanda Starr. She also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews; Sammy, Luke, Braxton, Olivia, Madison, Kelsey, Lydia, Damion, Derek, Lindsy, Brittany, and Alana, all of whom she adored with all her heart.
Katy's kindness, laughter, and unwavering support for others will forever be missed but never forgotten. She lived to make others happy, and in doing so, she left behind a legacy of love that will live on in every life she touched.
A celebration of Katy's life will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Lamont. In honor of her compassionate spirit, the family asks that donations be made to a local animal rescue or shelter of your choice. Arrangements are under the direction of Trout Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Tonkawa, 505 Thunderbird Rd, Tonkawa, OK 74653.

Katy and I were co workers off and on for alot of years. Same with her Mom, Susan. From working as a CNA all the way in Medford to being on the lock down unit at ESC, she was truly a ray of sunshine. Always tried to bring joy to others. Her smile and laugh was very contagious. Even on her roughest days, she would always be the light at the end of the tunnel. I remember having a conversation with her while we were at ESC, and all she could talk about was how much she loved her mom. How Susan has always been the best Mom to her. From the morning breakfast before school as a child to the numerous sporting events, MOM was always there. I love you Katy and Im saddened by this sudden loss. You will forever be missed in the hearts of EVERY SINGLE soul you ever came in contact with. Rest In Heaven Sweet Girl!

Always,
Shauna Young
