Kem Kinard Obituary

Kem A. Kinard, 69 of Newberry, went to his eternal home Saturday, July 26, surrounded by his family. Kem was born on July 30, 1955 to the late Charles Earnest and Betty Duncan Kinard.

Kem made a career with the United States Postal Service after acquiring a perfect score on the exam. He held various positions in his 30 years of employment. He served as vice president and then president of the S.C. APWU. He was also honored as a lead sales associate.

Kem was a member of Glory Tabernacle Church in Newberry and also attended Victory Worship Center in Clinton, SC.

Kem was an avid drummer and vocalist participating in several venues including church praise teams. He also enjoyed all Gamecock sports and was a faithful listener of Sports Talk programs.

Kem is survived by his wife of 47 years, Rynn Morris Kinard, son, Alan Kinard, daughter, Niki (Jose) Gonzalez, and a grandson Isaac Gonzalez all of Newberry.

Also surviving are his sister-in-law Jill (Donnie) Shealy, nieces and nephews, Summer Bedenbaugh, Michael Krause, Stephanie Shealy, and Eric Shealy, and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a daughter, Brooke Kinard, sisters Tammy Bedenbaugh and Alyson Kinard.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 28 at 10:00 am at Glory Tabernacle Church with burial following in Rosemont Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the gravesite. Special thanks to Three Oak Hospice Service for their loving care they gave to Kem.

Active pallbearers will be Nick Morris, Jerry Long, Thad Mays, Phillip Mays, Bob Bannister, Richard Easterlin, Bobby Phillips, and Ken Oswald.
