Ken Kurtz, 56, of Dawsonville passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 22, 2024 of natural causes while going for a run at one of his favorite places, Tybee Island, Georgia.
Born June 30, 1967 and raised in Michigan, Ken had been a resident of Dawson County for over 20 years. He attended Local Church Dawson with his family. A proud graduate of Michigan State University, Ken spent his career working as a CPA. He owned and operated his own accounting firm in Cumming, Georgia. A loving and devoted husband and father, his biggest joy in life was his family. He was an avid runner, enjoyed spending time on the water and could always have a good time with his fun, quirky, quick-witted personality. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Roberta Kurtz and a nephew, Marc Schadler.
Surviving are his wife of 26 years, Kim Kurtz; children, Emily Kurtz, Lauren Kurtz, Will Kurtz; siblings, Donald Kurtz (Diane), Michael Kurtz (Sylvia), Phyllis Schadler (Chuck), Sandra Kurtz, James Kurtz (Michelle), Cynthia Lown (Thomas), Pamela Kurtz, Brenda Kurtz; nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 11 AM at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Brian Haas will officiate. Interment will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday April 26, 2024 from 4 PM until 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ken's memory to Michigan State University at givingto.msu.edu/gift/
