Kenneth "Kenny" Ray Melton, 80, of Underwood, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at Baptist Health Floyd in New Albany, IN.
Kenny was born on October 5, 1944, in Allais, KY, to the late David and Imogene (Feltner) Melton. On March 28, 1969, at the Church of Christ in East Point, KY, he married the love of his life, Fredia Joyce (Ramey) Melton, who survives in Underwood, IN.
Kenny was a graduate of Whitesburg High School in 1963. After graduating, he worked at Cummins Engine Company and retired in 1993. A devoted Christian, he was a faithful member of both Mt. Hebron Church of Christ and Safe Harbor Church in Scottsburg, IN. Kenny was a hardworking man who cherished spending time with his family, especially while working, worshiping, or enjoying the outdoors. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, attending yard sales, and simply being outside.
Those who knew Kenny would describe him as strong, smart, giving, and deeply rooted in his love for the Lord. He lived a life of purpose and generosity, and he leaves behind a legacy of faith and love.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 61 years, Fredia Joyce (Ramey) Melton of Underwood, IN; three children, Kenny Melton Jr. of Underwood, IN, John (Kathy) Melton of Corydon, IN, and Jerry (Angela) Melton of Salem, IN; four grandchildren, Christina (John), Michael, Timmy, and Hope; and two brothers, David (Maudella) Melton and James (Lita) Melton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Norma "Cookie" Meade, and brother-in-law, Jim Meade.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory in Scottsburg, with burial to follow at Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, and from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Thursday at Adams Family Funeral Homes & Crematory, 138 Westavia Blvd., Scottsburg, IN.
Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Hebron Church, c/o Adams Family Funeral Home & Crematory, 138 Westavia Blvd., Scottsburg, IN 47170.
