Mr. Kenneth Joy Owen, age 91 of Cedartown, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025. He was born on July 1, 1933 in Dallas, Georgia to the late Jessie Carl and June Davis Owen.
Mr. Owen is survived by his daughter, Karen Danette Owen Smith (Claude); grandchildren, Jennifer Morgan (Cary), Paige Cagle (Levi), and Christa Vaughn (Eli) and great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Morgan (Jonathan), Lenox Cagle and Laina Cagle.
Mr. Owen is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bobbie Lou Stone Owen and daughter, Sherry Ann Owen Davenport (Guy Jr.).
Mr. Owen was a graduate of Rockmart High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the US Air Force and was a paratrooper; later on he also enlisted with the Army and was in the Korean War. After being discharged from the Army, Kenneth went to work at Lockhead in Marietta, Georgia. He took early retirement in 1990 to go to seminary school and got his doctorate degree in Theology. He was a missionary in North Dakota for many years. He absolutely loved to travel, especially when he visited the Holy Land. He had a passion for photography, wood working and HAM radio.
Mr. Owen was a Mason for years and truly loved being a part of that brotherhood. He adored his two cats, but most important, he LOVED having his vidalia onion sandwich daily!
A graveside service for Mr. Owen will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025 at two o'clock in the afternoon in the family lot of Polk Memory Gardens Cemetery with Rev. Steve Fetkenhour officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Brown-Wright Post 12 Rockmart American Legion.
