Kenneth "Ken" Emile Smith, age 63, passed away on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, after bravely fighting both prostate and pancreatic cancer. Ken was born March 21, 1962 in Vicksburg, MS, to Nolan and Gayle C. Smith (both now deceased) and was the third of four children. He graduated high school as a proud athlete from Tallulah Academy in 1980 known for his dedication, teamwork and love of the game, whether it was on the football field, the basketball court or under the baseball lights. Sports instilled in him a sense of discipline and perseverance that would carry him through life.
In 1984, Ken graduated college from the University of Louisiana at Monroe with a degree in construction management. Ken had more than 35 years experience in the commercial construction industry, and for the last 20+ years worked at Satterfield & Pontikes Construction, Inc. Ken passionately led the Houston Business Unit of S&P before moving to Boerne, TX to grow the Central Texas Business Unit. Ken was not only hard working and dedicated; he loved the job, genuinely cared about his colleagues and found immense joy in mentoring others. More than anything, Ken loved being a good Christian, loved being a devoted family man, loved his dog, Percy, and loved his Harley Davidson. Prior to his illness you might have seen him riding the hill country on his Harley.
Above all, Ken will be deeply missed by his wife, Sue, his children: Alexander (wife, Dena), David (wife Jessica), and Andrew; their mother, Sarah Undiemi; grandchildren: Ezra, Judah and Vera; siblings: Suzanne, Daniel and John; brother-in-law, Rob Maas (wife Dedra); nephews: Ben Cooper, Alan Cooper (wife Charlene) and Gunnar Maas; and by marriage, aunts: Mary Harrison and Jean Wehr (husband Rolf).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Boerne to be designated for The Legacy Campaign or to the American Red Cross to be designated for the Hill Country flood relief.
