Kenneth Ralph Steen 93 passed away on July 12, 2025. He was born September 15, 1931 to Aubrey and Alma (Wildridge) Steen.
Kenneth graduated from Montgomery High School in 1950. He was inducted into the US Army in 1952. He served at the Fitz Simmons Army Hospital in Denver Colorado as a corporal Neuro Psychiatric Technician until 1954.
He worked at the former McCord Corporation as a supervisor for 21 yrs., General Electric as a supervisor for 10 years He then worked as a loader operator at Jones n Sons Concrete for 24 years.
In his earlier years Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, water skiing and flying planes. He has always prioritized spending time with his family and friends.
He was a member of Bethel Church North, formerly Otterbein UMC.
Kenneth was married to Shirley Faye Newton on June 22, 1958. They were married for 64 wonderful years before her passing in 2022.
Also preceding him in death were his parents, sisters Annalee Buse' and Karen Jones, brother in laws Keith Buse', Stan Jones, Kenneth Newton, Herbert Newton, Leon Petty, Richard Power and sister in laws Wilma Power, Betty Newton, Ernestine Newton and nephews David Petty and Gary Newton.
Family left to cherish the memories of Kenneth includes sister-in-law Harriett Petty and Sue Newton. Nieces and nephews, Larissa (Dennis) Porter, Shaya (Jared) Smith, Travor (Stephanie) Jones, Dane Buse', Darin Buse', Mia (Chris) Pugh, Mike (Leslie) Power, Anita (Steve) Abernathy, Deanna (Jim) Lowery, Sheryl Yates, Nancy Boehm, Randall Newton, Kenneth (Karen)Newton, Mark (Kathy) Petty and several great nieces and great nephews.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff of The Villages of Oakridge for the excellent care Kenneth received during his time there.
Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Church North in Washington, IN or the American Diabetes Association.
Goodwin-Sievers is honored to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Steen. Visitation will be held July 22, 2025, at 2020 State Street from 11 am to 1 pm. The Funeral Service will begin promptly at 1 pm with burial at Bethany Cemetery immediately following.
