Kermit Frank Jones, age 79, of Elk Garden, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025. Born on November 24, 1945, in Gorman, Maryland, Kermit was the son of the late Lester E. and Edna L. (Sager) Jones.
Kermit, a proud graduate of Bayard High School Class of 1963, embraced the outdoors with a passion; he treasured the thrill of bear and deer hunting and the tranquility of fishing. He was an avid WVU fan. His love for farming allowed him to cultivate not just the land but also strong bonds with his loved ones. Kermit spent countless cherished moments on the family farm, creating memories that will forever linger in the hearts of those who knew him. As the co-owner, with his brother Eugene, and operator of Jones Brothers Logging in the timber harvesting industry, Kermit exemplified hard work and commitment, and he took great pride in providing for his family.
Kermit is survived by his bride of 56 years, Mary Jane "Janie" (Sharpless) Jones; four children, Paul Jones and wife Tonia, Mary Ann Rose and husband John, David Jones and his lady Lou Ann Kitzmiller, Jared Jones and wife Ashley; grandchildren, Adam Jones and wife Megan, Jacob Jones, Lillia and Brooke Rose, Olivia, Scarlet, Avalynn Jones, and Madison Kitzmiller; two sisters, Wilma Reed and husband Earl, Velma Kifer and husband Ronnie; sister-in-law, Jean Jones; his best friend, Mike Brennan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Kermit was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel Jones, Glenn Jones, and Eugene "Snuffy" Jones.
Kermit's life will be celebrated with a gathering of family and friends. A visitation will be held at Fredlock & Fenner Funeral Homes, P.A., 21 N 2nd St., Oakland, MD on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM. Funeral services will take place at the Mount Storm United Methodist Church, 16576 Geroge Washington Highway, Mount Storm, WV on June 27, 2025, at 11 AM with Pastor Carl Fike officiating. Interment will immediately follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Elk Garden, WV

Kermit lived his life with joy, integrity, and a deep respect for nature and family. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, surrounded by the warmth of family and the beauty of the great outdoors. He will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who had the privilege to know him.
