It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kerry Michael Hopper, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Kerry was born on March 29, 1961, in Anderson, and he left us peacefully on July 14, 2025, at the age of 64. Known for his craftsmanship as a carpenter and for being the owner of his own businesses including third generation of HomeBuilders and owner/operator of Thoroughbred Breeding Farm, Kerry took immense pride in his work.
Kerry lived life passionately. He was deeply involved in 4-H, where he nurtured skills and friendships over the years. He had an adventurous spirit from racing cars and raising thoroughbred horses. His love for horses led him to serve as president of the local equestrian club, where he inspired many young riders. He enjoyed attending all of his grandchildren's events. Above all, his greatest accomplishments were his children and the joy they brought him.
Kerry's legacy lives on through his wife, Leigh Ann Hopper; children, Christopher Sexton, Perrianne (Christopher) Miles, Rachel Castor, Jedadiah (Laura) Hopper, Jesse (Sierra) Hopper, Shawntel (Tre) Hopper, Ashley (Dru) Witham, and Brittney (Kyle) Richwine. He cherished his grandchildren, which include Avery, Asher, Alijah, Amiya, Aydin, Isaiah, Katelyn, Serenity, Abbygail, Myrabell, Malaki, Tevin, Armoni, Ahna, Perry, Adeline, Jesse Jr., Eddy, and Everly. His joy was further compounded by the arrival of his great-grandchild, Payslee. Kerry also leaves behind his sisters, Patrice (John) Hinshaw and Sheila Smith; and several nieces and nephews, who will remember him fondly.Kerry was preceded in death by his parents, Perry & Barbara (Slack) Hopper; brother, Danny Hopper, and sister, Christy Barger.
To honor Kerry's life, a public viewing will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Bozell Funeral Homes Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, 515 East 53rd Street Anderson. Those who knew Kerry are invited to come together to share memories and pay their respects. His funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, at 12:00 PM, also at Bozell Funeral Homes Brown-Butz-Diedring Chapel, followed by burial in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Richland Township Fire Department or Madison County 4-H.Kerry Hopper may have left this world, but his legacy of love, kindness, and adventure will continue to inspire all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and community.Online condolences may be shared at bozellfuneralhomes.com
