Kevin Al Hoiland, a friend to many and a loved family member, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Sherburn, MN on May 13, 2025, just two days shy of his 32nd birthday. Kevin, who called Sandstone, MN his home for many years, touched the lives of those around him with his warmth and spirit.
Born on May 15, 1993, Kevin graduated from kindergarten in Hinckley, MN, and grew up in Sandstone, where he proudly graduated from East Central High School. Over the years, he explored various places, spending time in Hinckley, Grantsburg, WI, and Bruno, as well as the Martin County area.
As a laborer and handyman, Kevin was known for his hard work and dedication. He had a passion for grilling and cooking, especially over campfires, and spent countless hours enjoying music and gaming. The outdoors were Kevin's sanctuary; he loved fishing, swimming, and taking thrilling rides on his four-wheeler.
Kevin is preceded in death by his grandfather, Bill Blume, Sr., and aunts Liela Waibel, Jennifer Blume, and Crystal Blume. Kevin is survived by his mother, Martha "Marti" Finch, father, Joe (Shannon) Blume; his precious children, Levi and Aurora Hoiland; his siblings, Alexander Finch, Kolton Blume, Kali Finch, Brittanie Blume, and McKayla Blume. He will also be missed by his niece, Addy Mae, and his loving grandparents Alfred and Sandra Hoiland, Barb Blume, and Shirley Wagenius, as well as his uncles Bill Blume and Roy (Anna) Hoiland.
A memorial service was held in honor of Kevin on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at the Methven Funeral Home chapel, with Pastor Chris Cundiff officiating.
