With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Kevin John Lien, age 57, of St. Louis, who left us on May 24, 2025, in the quiet comfort of his own home, surrounded by the love of his family. After a courageous four-year battle with cancer, Kevin ultimately succumbed to the disease, leaving behind a legacy of strength and love.
Kevin is survived by his wife Donna Lien, Children Amelia (Matt Jones) Emory, Amanda Emory, Devin (Chelsea) Lien, Austin Emory, Axil (Andrew) Emory-Leach, Rieley Lien and his grandchildren Laila, Camden and Serenity and best friend Roy Uhl.
Kevin was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Addison Mae Lien.
Born on October 20th, 1967, in Catskill, New York, to Herbert and Carolyn (Scott) Lien, Kevin's life was marked by service and a deep appreciation for the world around him. He proudly served his country as a Seabee in the United States Navy, a time that instilled in him a sense of duty and resilience.
Returning to civilian life, Kevin continued his career as a heavy equipment operator as a DOD employee at Mayport Naval Station in Jacksonville, Florida. During this time, he was blessed with his first son, Devin Lien. Life then led Kevin to the small-town charm of Lake City, Michigan, where he transitioned to a new chapter as a car salesman at the local Ford dealership. It was here that his family grew with the arrival of his second son, Rieley Lien. Kevin embraced fatherhood with a full heart, raising both boys in the close-knit community of Lake City. Later, his path intertwined with Donna Emory's, leading them to the peaceful town of Alma.
Kevin eventually found his calling in the open road, becoming an over-the-road truck driver for many years. This career perfectly blended his independent spirit with his love for seeing new places and experiencing different horizons. He cherished the moments he could share his travel stories and the small mementos he'd bring back for his loved ones.
Above all else, Kevin was a devoted family man. His love for his sons, Devin and Rieley, was immeasurable, and he found immense joy in the simple moments spent together. Whether it was a lively family gathering, a quiet evening at home, or the excitement of planning their next adventure, Kevin's heart was always with his family. He had a knack for making everyone feel loved and valued. Many cherished memories were made around the grill, where Kevin would often be found, happily cooking and laughing with those he held dear. His love for travel and exploration was something he often shared with his family, creating lasting memories of journeys taken together.
Kevin's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his beloved sons, daughters and loving wife Donna, Devin and Rieley, Amelia, Amanda, Austin, Axil and all who were fortunate enough to know his strength, his warm smile, and his adventurous spirit. Though he will be deeply missed, the love he shared and the memories created, from quiet family moments to journeys explored, will continue to bring comfort and inspiration to those he leaves behind. May he now rest in peace.
Cremation has taken place with a Celebration of Kevin's life to be held at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Lux Funeral Home, St. Louis.
