Dell Rosa (Vinette) James, 84, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, July 7, 2025. A visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Dell was born on November 26, 1940, in Isabella, Michigan, to William and Ruth (Landis) Vinette. She graduated from high school and later completed her RN-BSN program, earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Dell worked proudly as a nurse at St. Bernardine Hospital in San Bernardino, California, where she spent most of her 52-year career. She was a member of the Cedar Valley Rocks & Mineral Society for over 20 years and belonged to the Quilting Ladies club in Atkins, Iowa. Dell enjoyed cooking, hosting gatherings for friends and family, crafting handmade gifts for others, reading, and was a trivia master.
Survivors include her daughters, Lauri Kell and Maria Parish; grandchildren, Erin Kell, Adam Kell, and Sean Kell; great-grandchild, Karmyn Fleming; and her beloved cat, Pirate.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Vinette; her son, Scott James; her sister, Barbara Moberg; and brother-in-law, Gene Moberg.
Memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established in Dell’s name.
