LaNell Holland, age 78, of Livingston, Texas, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on May 29, 2025.
LaNell was born June 22, 1946, in Houston, Texas. She was a graduate of Waltrip High School and afterward attended business school. In 1967, she married Michael Jack Holland in Huntsville. With her business skills, she worked in the business office of Crosby and Huffman ISD for many years before retiring to lake life on Lake Livingston. In her semi-retirement, she assisted her husband in running Greenhead Guide Service of Anahuac and Livingston. In full retirement, she enjoyed traveling and RV life. She eventually put down roots in Port Aransas and Rockport where she spent many days on the beach, the bay, and attending senior events with her friends and neighbors. She loved to fish and often out fished any man in the boat with her. She was an excellent cook known for her duck dirty rice and fried fish. She had a green thumb and used it to beautify the landscape wherever she lived. She was a gracious host and loved hosting family-especially her grandchildren who affectionately called her "Memaw." She loved to talk about Jesus and was a faithful attender of the nearest spirit filled church wherever she traveled and lived including First Assembly of God Livingston, First Assembly of God Leggett, Wildwood Gospel Church Onalaska, and Champion Life Centre Spring. Her final years were spent at Timberwood in Livingston where she was known for her smiles and laughter earning her the nickname "giggles." LaNell was loved for being fun and kind and admired for her faith, generous nature, and hardworking character. She will forever be in our hearts.
LaNell was preceded in death by her parents, George and Clarice Willis and her husband, Michael Jack Holland. She is survived by her children Tim Etie and wife Christy of Houston, Texas, Mike Holland and wife Rachel of Mesa, Arizona, and April Mullins and husband Michael of Conroe, Texas; sister and brother-in-law Beth and Danny Schellhase; grandchildren Casey Etie-Hammond, John Etie, Kaitlyn Etie, Chase Holland-Swords, Zoie Holland, Holly Mullins, and Whitney Mullins; Step grandchildren Avery, Emme, and Ally Bartlett, and Zachary Sasenger; two great-grandchildren Charlee Rose Etie and Carter Swords.
The family will receive visitors at Groveton Funeral Home on June 7th at 10 A.M. with a funeral service following at 11 A. M. with Brother Lester McAdams officiating. She will be laid to rest at Bennet Cemetery in Apple Springs.
