Larry Gene Bordelon, Sr. (81) unexpectedly hit the sweet spot with a final shot on the fairway on August 10, 2025. Dad’s final hole may have been played, but his presence and impact will echo through the Levelland Country Club, his family, and his friends forever. Fore-ever missed, forever loved.
Dad was a transplant Texan from Georgia. He was born in Augusta, Georgia on November 19, 1943 and made his way to Levelland, Texas, after job transfers, and chose to stay. He built a wonderful life in Levelland with his wife (previously deceased) Vicki and two children, Ashley Bordelon and Larry Gene Bordelon, Jr. (Bo). Bo and his wife, Carla still reside in Levelland and Ashley is in Hunt, Texas. Dad was a Papa to four - Keegan, Victoria, Korbin, and Jersson and great Papa to three girls - Delaney, Elizabeth, and Kimber. Dad missed Mom tremendously; however, the last several years of Dad’s life were blessed with a loving companion, Rose, who doted and kept him young and active. And… we cannot forget Peanut, his trusty sidekick!
Dad was a supportive and dedicated husband, father, and friend - ALWAYS putting our needs above his own. His family was the most important thing to him. He emulated loyalty, independence, responsibility, strength, and integrity. He sacrificed and loved each of us so much. And, for that, we will never be able to say thank you, Dad, enough!
Dad’s golfing buddies gathered to play every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday, as well as in tournaments for years and will continue to play. They are a fixture and a testament to Dad’s love of friends and golfing. Dad was a familiar and cherished presence on the course. Many of his beloved friends are now playing golf in Heaven, where I’m sure they’re enjoying a grand and heartfelt reunion. While others, still here, will carry on and raise a club and a drink in Dad’s honor.
Dad was fortunate to finish his earthly journey doing what he loved most—playing golf. Having stood by Mom through her extended illness, God’s grace surrounded him, answering countless prayers and granting him divine mercy in his final moments. Being surrounded by his golfing buddies was the perfect way to go, as he genuinely cherished and enjoyed the company of each one.
