Larry was born on February 18, 1948, in Fairmont, Minnesota, to Vernon and Muriel (Olson) Hagen. He was baptized and confirmed at Long Lake Lutheran Church in rural St. James. Larry grew up in Ormsby and always spoke fondly of his childhood there, cherishing the close friendships and memories made with the neighborhood kids. He attended elementary school in Ormsby and graduated from St. James High School with the class of 1966.
Following high school, Larry attended Mankato State before he began his working years at Tyco Plastics in Fairmont, where he was employed for over 30 years until the plant's closing and later worked at Weston’s.
Larry was blessed with two daughters, Lacey and Teresa, and he took great joy in spending time with them throughout their lives. He had a kind and thoughtful spirit, always keeping family and friends in mind — especially when scouting for bargains or hunting for the perfect “find” he knew someone else would love.
Larry had an adventurous spirit, and enjoyed camping, motorcycling, skiing, biking, and simply being outdoors. In his earlier years, he developed a love for photography, capturing countless images of cars, motorcycles, and candid moments that now serve as cherished memories. Larry had a knack for fixing things, often in creative, one-of-a-kind ways and took pride in making something work again.
Larry is survived by his daughters, Lacey (Brett) Kietzer of North Mankato and Teresa Jansen of Maple Ridge, BC, Canada; grandchildren, Gabriel Kietzer, Claire Kietzer, Gunnar Jansen, Olive Jansen; sisters, LeeAnn (Doug) Nibbe of rural St. James, Minnesota, Kari (David) Lorenz of Elk River, Minnesota; many other family members including an aunt, uncle, nieces, nephews, and cousins; and friends.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon and Muriel; sister, Nancy (Allan) Kruse; and great-nephew, Daniel Addabbo.
