Larry Phillip Hardiek, age 73
September 11, 1951 – January 18, 2025
Larry Phillip Hardiek, age 73, of Dieterich, Illinois, passed away at 9:45 AM - Saturday, January 18, 2025, at his home.
Private services will be held with burial in the Dieterich Village Cemetery in Dieterich, Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Meyer Funeral Home in Dieterich, Illinois. The obituary can be viewed, and condolences left at www.meyerfh.com.
Larry was born on September 11, 1951, in Effingham, Illinois, the son of Gerald "Bud" and Luella "Babe" (Hutmacher) Hardiek. He married Marie Archaimbault on April 15, 1972, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dieterich, Illinois.
Larry graduated from Dieterich High School with the Class of 1969. Following high school, he served his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1970, during the Vietnam War.
Larry retired after many years as a truck driver. He was a member of the former Dieterich American Legion Post #628. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering and gardening.
Larry is survived by:
Wife of 52 years – Marie Hardiek of Dieterich, Illinois
Children – Philip (Jamie) Hardiek of Dieterich, Illinois and Rachel (Jake) Doedtman of Teutopolis, Illinois
Grandchildren – Landriah Hardiek, Gabriella Hardiek, Samuel Hardiek, and Adam Doedtman.
Siblings - Geri (Jag) Woods, Mary Lynn (Larry) Carroll, Kara (Ron) Geier and Matthew (Carol) Hardiek all of Newton, Illinois; Patty (Greg) Garbe of Bloomington, Illinois; Joe (Sheila) Hardiek and Mark (Brenda) Hardiek both of Dieterich, Illinois; Christy (Gary) Harder and Steve Hardiek of Newton, Illinois.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, brother Paul Haridek and a sister Tracey Hardiek.
