Saronville, NE, resident Larry L. Lukes, 78, passed away Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the Good Samaritan Society in Beatrice, NE.
A Rosary will be prayed at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sutton, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m., at the Church with Father Lee Jirovsky and Father David Oldham officiating. In honoring his wish to be cremated, there will not be a viewing or visitation.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.
Larry L. Lukes was born on July 30, 1946, to Arnold and Eloise (Kerber) Lukes in Sioux Falls, SD. He married Kay M. Reinsch on December 17, 1966, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Geneva, NE. Larry was drafted into the United States Army in 1966. He left for Vietnam in January of 1967 with Charlie Company, 9th Infantry, 4/47th. Upon his return, he moved back to Sioux Falls and drove semi-trucks until June of 1988, when he and his family moved back to Nebraska. They resided in the Sutton area and Larry continued to drive Semi-trucks.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Geneva VFW Samuel J. Marsh Post 7102.
Larry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Kay of Saronville, NE; daughter, Rebecca (Eric) Schoenauer of Sutton, NE; son, Chris J. Lukes of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren, Robert (Payton) Kelly, Jr.; Stephen Kelly; and Breann Kelly all of Sutton, NE; great-grandchildren, Aiden Kelly; Gwen Kelly; and Vickie Kelly all of Sutton, NE.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Eloise Lukes; sister, Karen Teeslink; and brother, Jerry Lukes.
