Larry LuVerne Stenmark, passed away on July 4, 2025, at Meeker Memorial Hospital in Litchfield.
Larry was born on May 20, 1941, in Litchfield, MN to LuVerne and Lucille (Dollerschell) Stenmark. He was baptized July 27, 1941, at St. Matthew’s Evangelical and Reform Church in Forest City, MN by Pastor Victor Grupe. Larry received confirmation on April 3, 1955, at St. Matthew’s by Pastor R. Hohmann.
Larry graduated from Litchfield High School on May 28, 1959. He attended Humboldt Institute, Inc and graduated March 14, 1960. From there, Larry started working for American Airlines out of Des Plaines, IL
On June 17, 1961, Larry was united in marriage to Karen Rosenow at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Litchfield, MN. In 1963, the couple moved back to Minnesota to be closer to family and to start employment with Northwest Airlines out of Minneapolis. The couple was blessed with three children: Troy, BeckyJo and Kyle.
In 1971, the family moved to their current home on Lake Washington in Dassel, MN. Larry and Karen bowled on several teams. In 1980, they decided to buy Hutch Bowling Alley in Hutchinson, MN from Brad and Jo Larson. In 2004, Larry retired from Northwest Airlines with 41 years of service.
Larry had a love for sports, both attending and playing. He played on many teams of baseball, softball, pickleball, volleyball and bowling. Larry and Karen had many card playing friends and played every Friday afternoon in Litchfield. Larry attended the NY Yankee camp and had season tickets to the Minnesota Vikings. He also had a full wardrobe of different team jerseys which he wore proudly. Larry enjoyed inviting friends over to play cards and have delicious meals made by Karen. When Larry dressed up to go out for an evening, you always found him in cowboy hat and boots.
Larry leaves to mourn wife, Karen; children, BeckyJo (Dan) Utendorfer of Brainerd, MN. Kyle Stenmark of Hutchinson; 3 granddaughters; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Lynnea Rudey of Hinkley, MN, Lowell Stenmark of Northhome, MN; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Preceding Larry in death were his parents; son, Troy; brothers-in-law, Eddie Rosenow and Caroll Rudey; sister-in-law Lois Rosenow.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 11 at St. Matthew’s Church of Christ at 11:00 AM with a visitation one hour prior. Inurnment will be in Ripley, Cemetery
