Larry Dean Taylor, age 72, resident of Phelps, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home with his loving wife by his side on June 19th, 2025.
He was born in Pikeville, Kentucky, on December 7th, 1952, a loving son of Dorothy (Casey) Taylor of Phelps, Kentucky, and the late Gailard Taylor.
Larry was a retired Social Worker for Protection & Permanency in Pikeville, Kentucky. He also worked in the Coal Mines as a boss. Larry was a member of the Lords House Church in Phelps, Kentucky. He enjoyed the outdoors, playing tennis, and bird watching. He loved the beauty of the woods looking for ginseng when he was able to go. Larry was a kind-hearted man who never met a stranger. He always found someone to talk to when he was out.
Those surviving to honor the legacy of Larry includes his adored wife of 32 years, Rosa (Hamilton) Taylor of Phelps, Kentucky; his mother, Dorothy Taylor of Phelps, Kentucky; his adored daughter, Shanna (Dr. Tim) Lavender of Dwale, Kentucky, and step-daughter, Sonya (Shane) Stump of Louisville, Kentucky; and one sister, Barbara Taylor Horn of Phelps, Kentucky; and two grandchildren, Lexi Lavender and Dominic Stump.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 22nd, 2025 beginning at 6:00 P.M. at The Lords House Church located at 29 Church House Lane in Phelps, Kentucky.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. June 23rd, 2025 at the church with Reverend Mitch Bowling officiating.
Entombment will follow in the York Mausoleum at Johnson Memorial Park in Pikeville, Kentucky.
