Laura Curbello Obituary

Funeral service for Laura Frances Curbello, 82, of Lawton, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2025 at Bethel Assembly of God Church with Pastor Randy Shorter officiating.

Burial will follow at Letitia Cemetery under the direction of Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from on Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a special viewing and visitation for family and friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and viewing on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Curbello passed away at her home on Monday, July 28th, 2025.

Laura was born on August 30, 1942 in Kenna, New Mexico to Paul and Edith (Barrett) Guss. She grew up in Elida and Portales, New Mexico where she attended school. She married John Curbello on December 22, 1959 in Portales, New Mexico and they lived there for awhile until John's military career took them to El Paso, Texas and later to France. They returned to New Mexico and later moved to Arlington, Texas where they lived until 2011 when they came to Lawton, Oklahoma to live with their daughter and son in law, Pat and James. Laura was a strong family woman who served as the "Mama Bear" to her children and grandchildren. She was also a devoted member of Bethel Assembly of God and was involved in the woman's ministry and food ministry for many years.

She is survived by her daughters, and son in law, Pat and James Taylor and Kay Curbello, all of the home; her son and daughter in law, John Curbello, Jr. and Jennifer, of Walters, OK; her brothers and sister in law, Jerry Guss, of Alamogordo, NM and Paul Winston and Carol Guss, of Rogers, NM; her sisters, Pauletta Curtis of Hobbs, New Mexico and Helen English, of Jacksonville, Texas; her sister in law, Christine Myers; seven grandsons, Joshua Taylor, Jeremy Taylor, Chandler Claypool, Jaden Curbello, Logan Curbello, Hunter Curbello and Brady Curbello; and numerous nieces and nephews and other loving family members.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Curbello, Sr who passed away on July 24, 2018; her brothers, Eugene Guss and Wayne Guss; and her brothers in law, Johnny Curtis and Willie Glenn English.
