Laura "Neecie" Denese Staples of Corsicana, Texas, passed away on June 20, 2025, at the age of 77. She was born on March 21, 1948, in Dallas, Texas, to Jack and Joyce (Etheridge) Hilley.
Neecie grew up in Lancaster, Texas, and graduated from Lancaster High School. She went on to work at Chaparral Steel, where she built lasting friendships before retiring. Known for her warm heart and creative spirit, Neecie found great joy in quilting, sewing, reading, and tending to her garden. Her beloved Boston Terrier, Millie, was her constant companion and brought her endless delight.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Hilley and his wife Jan of Vista Verde, Florida; niece, Kimberly Hilley and her son Taylor Holmes; nephews: David "Scot" Lane and wife Julie of Cash, Texas, and their son Carson Lane; Steve Lane and wife Donna of Ferris, Texas, and their sons Sean and Dee Lane. Neecie also leaves behind a host of cherished friends, including Carol Taylor, Rosellan Richards, Fred Heinen, and many more who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Patrick Michael Brown; her husband, Bill Staples; sisters, Darla Lane and Delana Trogdon; nephews, Christopher Hilley and Kenneth Lane; niece, Stephanie Mancuso; great nephew, David Scot Lane, II, and her parents, Jack and Joyce Hilley.
Neecie's legacy is one of kindness, creativity, and deep love for family and friends. She will be remembered fondly and missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Denese was a former co-worker and long time friend. We recently re-connected, enjoyed shopping and eating lunch in Corsicana and Hubbard. Miss her so much.
