Jerrilyn Terry Obituary

Jerrilyn "Jerri" Verdelle Brown Terry was born on October 22, 1942, in Columbia, Louisiana, and passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025, in Houston, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ellis Mecom Brown and Vera Cook Brown. She is survived by her loving husband, Reese S. Terry, Jr.; son, Reese (Tray) Stoops Terry III; stepson, Richard Reese Terry; stepdaughter, Angela Elaine Christenson; and grandchildren Ashton Terry, Chloe Christenson, Jaxson Terry, and Conner Terry. Jerri and her family are deeply grateful to her caregivers-Ruth Hutchinson, Aline Daniels, Debra Hagler-and the Living Hope Hospice team for their compassion and support.

Jerri graduated from Caldwell Parish High School in Louisiana, where she played basketball and was coached by her mother, who had won two state championships. She went on to attend the University of Arkansas at Monticello, where she served as captain of the cheerleading squad, and graduated from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. She began her financial career in Houston with Schneider, Bernet & Hickman, and became a registered stockbroker in 1972. She later spent a decade with Merrill Lynch. Known for her intelligence, kindness, and vibrant personality, Jerri made a lasting impression on countless colleagues and friends throughout Houston.

Dedicated to giving back to her community, Jerri was an active leader in many charities, including the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo and the Pin Oak Charity Horse Show. She also served faithfully as a Deacon at Webster Presbyterian Church, where her strong faith and love for the Lord guided her life.

On March 28, 1980, Jerri married Reese S. Terry, Jr. Together, they built a loving family, welcoming Richard and Angela into their home and celebrating the birth of their son, Tray, on August 7, 1984. She treasured her family and found joy in organizing ski and summer trips to Colorado and New Mexico, always ensuring lasting memories were made. Jerri loved traveling and embraced life with a spirit of adventure. After Tray's birth, she retired to become a full-time mother. She played a vital role in supporting Reese as he launched Cyberonics, where she served as the company's tireless organizer, cheerleader, and trusted confidante-forming friendships with employees and physicians.

Jerri will be remembered for her loyalty, optimism, and courage in facing life's challenges. Her joy for life continued to shine throughout her journey with Alzheimer's, inspiring all who knew her.

A memorial service will be held at Webster Presbyterian Church on November 8 at 11 AM. In place of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Webster Presbyterian Church or to the Nantz National Alzheimer's Center at Methodist Hospital.
