Mr. Lavell Scott was born on January 7, 1957, in Blevins, Arkansas, to the late James Scott, Sr. and Azalea Dixon-Scott. He peacefully departed this life on October 5, 2025, from the comfort of his home in Blevins.
Lavell attended Blevins School and worked many years at the Steel Mill, Hudson, and Tyson Hatchery until his health began to fail. He was affectionately known as “Monster” by his siblings, being the youngest of five. Though feisty by nature in his younger years, age and family softened him—his grandchildren, especially, brought out his gentler side. He dearly loved his children and grandchildren and proudly kept up with their accomplishments, activities, and sports, even when he couldn’t be there in person.
Lavell enjoyed basketball, cooking, music, and taking long rides—especially if there was a pond along the way. Fishing was his true passion. He loved keeping up with current events, whether it was world news, local happenings, or simply the stories of those around him. A conversation with Lavell was never dull; he always had something to say and loved giving everyone their own special nickname.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alice Mae Scott, and his brother-in-law, Roosevelt Evans.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughters, Tonya Cooks, Sequita Burchette, and Kristinia Eason; and other children he loved as his own—Candice Tribbet, Monique Scott, Kevon Eason, and David Lee Scott, who had the privilege of living with him until the end. His grandchildren include Marisha, Jaquaris, Jaquavis, David (DJ), Makayla, Dakota, Arian, Ja’Ryan, Ahmora, Kylan, Daviana (Daisy), Kahmiya, Londyn, MaiMirical, Malachi, Connor, Payge, Ja’Sean, Bella, Blakely, and Milynn; great-grandchildren, Khailen (Kick Boxer), Kinsley, and Rhaenyra.
He is also survived by his siblings, James “Jim” Scott Jr. (Shirley), Bennie Scott (Sally), Verna Evans, and Jerri Brown; brother-in-law, Johnny Walker; sister-in-law, Mae Alice Witherspoon; uncle, Charlie Ogden; best friend, Willie Shaw; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will forever remember his laughter and love.
Lavell's Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., on Saturday, October 11, 2025, at Brandon’s Mortuary in Hope, Arkansas. His earthly body will be laid to rest at Shorter Chapel Cemetery in Blevins. Lavell’s online guest book is available below.
