LaVonne M. Mader, 96, of Sioux Falls and formerly of Montrose, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at Avantara Norton Nursing Home in Sioux Falls. Memorial services will begin at 10:30 am on Monday, July 7, 2025 at Sun Prairie Baptist Church, rural Salem. Visitation will be from 4-6 pm on Sunday, July 6, 2025 at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem. LaVonne Anderson was born November 9, 1928 near Salem to Ted and Gladys (Kinzley) Anderson. She grew up on a farm near Salem and graduated from Salem High School. On February 22, 1948 she married Clarence Mader and they remained on the farm. They were blessed with four children, Sheryl, Larry, Bob and Jane.
LaVonne was a lifelong member of Ramsey Baptist Church near Montrose. She was active in the church circle for many years. She also enjoyed sewing, cooking, gardening and music. LaVonne spent many hours studying the Bible as well.
She is survived by: her children, Larry (Linda) Mader of Spearfish, SD, Bob Mader of Sumner, WA and Jane (Bob) DeVries of Rapid City, SD; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter, Sheryl and siblings, Ruby, John (Fern), Gene (Grace), Elwood, and June (Russel) Greenough.
