Lawerence "Larry" Joseph Fleckenstein, 64, of Lafayette passed away at 2:35 p.m., Saturday, July 5, 2025 at I.U. Arnett Health in Lafayette.
Born on October 24, 1960 in Decatur, Illinois, he was the son of the late Joseph and Geraldine (Yonker) Fleckenstein.
He was a 1978 graduate of St. Teresa High School in Decatur, Illinois.
Larry retired from Newton Oil after 19 years and was formerly employed at Wilkins Pipe and Supply in Decatur, Illinois.
Larry loved to travel out west, visiting Las Vegas and attending several Cub's baseball games. He was also an avid Purdue fan and enjoyed watching sports. Larry enjoyed attending his granddaughter's school events and summer activities. He also recently shared a love for collecting coins with his granddaughters, Karis and Emmie.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Fleckenstein of Lafayette, son Brandon Fleckenstein of Indianapolis, step daughters Amy Haselby of Tempe, Arizona and Krystal Coates of Lafayette, sisters, Pam Kitterman (Nate) of Sycamore, Illinois and Sally Morland of Lafayette, sister-in-law Cathy (Robert) Redmon of Colorado, brothers-in-laws Ernie (Vickie) Bridge and Harry (Deb) Bridge of Royal Center, his beloved granddaughters, Karis and Emmie Coates who referred to Larry as their "Poppy". He is also survived by many nieces and nephews including a very close nephew, Ed Culp (Tonya) of Decatur, Illinois and several great nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carol and James Bridge, brother-in-law, Bill Moreland and nephews, Jason Morland and Robert Campbell.
Larry's family would like to thank the staff of the IU Health Cancer Center of Lafayette, IN in his memory.
Services will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Rans Funeral Homes & Crematory, Harrison Chapel, 304 S. Chicago St., Royal Center.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
Burial will be at Kistler Cemetery, Royal Center.
