In Loving Memory of Leanne Trafford
December 19, 1981 – June 27, 2025
Leanne Dolores Trafford, 43, of Waxahachie, TX, passed away on June 27, 2025, after a long and fiercely courageous battle with cancer. Born on December 19, 1981, Leanne overcame tremendous adversity throughout her life with a strength and resilience that left a lasting mark on everyone who knew her.
Born and raised in Hawai'i, Leanne was surrounded by the love of her large and close-knit 'ohana. Her childhood was filled with time spent alongside her great-grandparents, grandparents, uncles, aunties, nieces, nephews, friends -connections that shaped her spirit and grounded her deeply in the values of family, resilience, and aloha. Though life took her to many places, her heart always longed to return to the islands that held so many of her most cherished memories.
Her bravery and commitment to service were evident early on when she enlisted in the Hawai'i Army National Guard, proudly serving her country. That same unwavering determination led her to a calling as an EMT with CareFlite, where she dedicated herself to helping others in their most vulnerable moments.
Leanne faced life's challenges with grit, grace, and a healthy streak of stubbornness. She surpassed not only the limits set before her, but the very expectations of those around her - including doctors. In the face of cancer, she didn't just endure - she fought with everything she had, repeatedly defying the odds and inspiring all who witnessed her journey. Her battle was not defined by its end, but by how magnificently she lived in spite of it.
She is survived by her loving mother, Antoinette (Toni) Correia; her father, Mel Trafford (wife Meg); her siblings Edwin Trafford (wife Dawn), Gene Trafford (wife Esther), Christine Ricci (husband Nick), Bryan Trafford (wife Amy Jo) and Paul Trafford (wife Erin); and her four beloved children: Leilani Corpuz (23), Lea Brown (18), Meleana Brown (16), and Makoa Brown (13). Her legacy also lives on through numerous aunties, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who adored her deeply.
A memorial service will be held at Midlothian Bible Church – date to be determined. After which, she will return home to Hawai'i which will be her final resting place.
Leanne's life was a testament to perseverance, love, and selfless service. She lived boldly, loved fiercely, and never stopped fighting - and in doing so, she leaves behind a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come.
