Leonard "Len" Brignall, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 16, 2025. He was born on April 26th, 1935. He was united in marriage to Mary Jean Longhini. They would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in July 2025.
Born in Dryden, Ontario, Canada, Len moved to Kenora and played all his minor hockey there, with Bergman and Nelson in midget and juvenile, three titles were won. In 1953-54 to Port Arthur and spent that season and next with the West End Bruins. Possessing a tremendous burst of speed, Len was one of the most dangerous Juniors around the net. The 1955-56 saw him with the Intermediate B Champs, Kenwood Kings and then the last two seasons with the locals. A rower of note, Len has copped prizes in the International Rowing Association's annual regatta.
During his childhood, Len excelled at Junior Hockey. Although he enjoyed golfing, he had a passion for hockey and coaching. Len was a hockey coach for all levels, coaching for Ashwaubenon from 1974-1982 and for De Pere Cavaliers from 1982-1986. Len enjoyed spending time with his family, gardening, and sporting events. He was a proud Union Electrician, Mason and Shriner.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean; his children Lennie Brignall, Jim (Maria) Brignall and Mike Brignall; his granddaughter Antonia Brignall; and his brother Robert Brignall.
He was preceded by his parents, Robert Brignall and Irene Alberts.
