Lenart Randall Brown Eyes was born on June 3, 1956 in Pine Ridge, SD to Lenart and Stella (Randall) Brown Eyes. Lenart made his journey to the Spirit World on February 24, 2025 at the Monument Health Hospital in Rapid City, SD.
He attended grade school and high school in Martin. He later attended college at the University of California, Haskell in Kansas, SIPI in New Mexico, and then the University of Minnesota where he obtained his masters in electrical engineering in 1985. Lenart used his skill at various jobs. He was a powwow man and sang with the Lone Eagle Singers. He also was a fancy dancer.
Lenart is survived by his daughter Lena of West Virginia, and Gia of Wounded Knee, SD; sons, Landon of Porcupine, SD, Lance & Lucus of California, Travis of Sioux Falls, Layton & Loren of Minnesota, and Lenart IV of Pine Ridge; brother, Gerard of Martin; sister, Ursula of Martin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.
Lenart was preceded in death by his parents, Lenart, Sr. and Stella (Randall) Brown Eyes; paternal grandparents, Louie & Jennie Brown Eyes; maternal grandparents, Frank & Alice Randall; son, Lenart III; brothers, Eli "Happy" Conroy, Pleonard "Tuffy" Conroy, Cornell Conroy, Sr., and Cecil Weston, Jr.; sister, Alice Conroy; and numerous other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Deandre Standing Bear, Dawson Standing Bear, Bob Amiotte, Iggy Jealous of Him, Leon Grass, and Eston Conroy.
Honorary pallbearers will be All Friends & Relatives.
Wake Services: One night wake service starting 3:00 PM, Friday, March 7, 2025 at the New American Legion Hall in Martin, SD
Funeral Services: 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 8, 2025 at the New American Legion Hall in Martin, SD
Traditional Lakota Services: Rudy Escamilla and Russell Eagle Bear
Drum Group: Eagle Nest Singers
Burial Services: St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Hisle, SD
Arrangements entrusted with the Sioux Funeral Home of Pine Ridge, SD
