Leonel Ferreira Obituary

Leonel Goncalves Ferreira passed away peacefully on July 3, 2025, at Grand Oaks Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 30, 1934, in São Bartolomeu on Terceira Island, Portugal, to Moises and Maria Ferreira. In 1959, Leonel married the love of his life, Elci Ramos, with whom he shared a devoted and joyful marriage until her passing in 2008. Together, they raised three sons who were the center of their world. In 1974, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Tulare, California. Leonel initially worked as a dairyman before founding Ferreira's Gardening, a business he proudly operated for over 30 years. A devoted fan of Benfica soccer, Leonel found his greatest joy in the presence of his sons, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were the light of his life. His deep and unwavering faith in God guided him throughout his life, and he remained steadfast in that faith until the very end. Known for his kind and generous spirit, Leonel touched the lives of many and was deeply loved by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elci, and his siblings: Maria de Lurdes, Leonesa, José, Abel, João and Antonio. Leonel is survived by his sons: Victor (Mary) Ferreira, Paul (Robin) Ferreira, and Robert (Anna) Ferreira; his grandchildren: Jason, Christopher (Savannah), Stephen, Kayla, and Kelsey; and his great-grandchildren: Cameron and Cambria. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the dedicated staff at Grand Oaks Nursing Home and Assisted Living, whose compassionate care, especially during Leonel's final months, brought comfort and peace to both him and his loved ones.
