Leota Jean (Murray) Hall was born the daughter of Dempse C. and Kathryn L. Murray on September 22, 1936 near Carney, Oklahoma in Lincoln County. Leota was an only child for ten years until the family welcomed a sister, Betty Laraine Murray in 1946. As a small child, she attended a small country school west of Chandler, Oklahoma. She later attended Wellston Junior High School where she graduated from the 9th grade in 1951. She enjoyed her time at Wellston schools the most, because she was able to attend school with her cousin Billy Treaster. Billy was more like a brother to her and one of her dearest friends. In 1951 the family moved to Chandler where Leota attended Chandler High School and graduated with the class of 1954.
On November 16, 1953, Leota married Orville Williams. They made their home in Chandler and welcomed 3 children to their family. Kenneth in 1955, Brad in 1957 and Nancy in 1970. Leota and Orville divorced in 1973. In 1978, while working at Taylor Ford in Chandler, Leota met Lee Hall. A recent widower, Lee won her heart and they were married on December 29, 1978 in Tryon, Oklahoma at the home of Ted and Margaret Gibson.
It was at this time that Leota began her greatest journey as her and Nancy moved to the farm at Tryon. She embraced her role as a full-time homemaker and farm wife. While Lee worked full time at Tinker AFB during the day, she took care of things at home on the farm. Lee would help her load hay in the evening and after getting Nancy off to school every morning, she would set out to feed cattle, break ice, and tend to sheep and the occasional horse or two. During the summer she would take meals to the hay field, make runs to town for tractor or equipment parts, and mow acres and acres of yard. Being outdoors and caring for the farm and her precious animals was her favorite time of life.
When Lee retired from Tinker in 1987, Leota began a new career as a full-time rural mail carrier at the Tryon Post Office where she remained until her retirement. During this time she made many many friends along her mail route, taking time to visit with everyone and making sure that shut-ins got their mail by stopping and taking it into their homes. At Christmas time she spent hours making treat boxes to deliver to her cherished friends on the mail route. Once she retired from the post office, Lee and Leota spent quality time together on the farm taking care of their animals and traveling to Branson, Colorado and New Mexico. After Lee's passing in 2009, Leota found comfort and new friends attending Tryon Baptist Church and the Carney Senior Citizens Center. Group outings and game nights at the Senior Citizens center brought her great joy.
Leota remained on the farm as long as she was able, but made the decision to move to Woodward in 2016 to be near her daughter Nancy and her family. Her only condition in moving was that she have a yard big enough to bring her beloved dogs Jo-Jo, Sassy and Ladybug. She made the move to her little house on 18th street where she enjoyed being in town and close to the walking trail where she loved to take her dogs. She also found new enjoyment in attending Lincoln Avenue Baptist Church and the Senior Circle on Friday mornings.
As Leota's health began to fail she made the move to Woodward Skilled Nursing where she spent the last 2 years and 9 months of her life. She was adored by the staff there for her "spunky and feisty" demeanor even on days she felt bad.
Leota made her departure from this life and was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on July 9, 2025 with her daughter, Nancy and her granddaughter Erin by her side.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Lee L. Hall and her parents. She is survived by her children Kenneth Williams and wife Barbara or Perkins, OK. Brad Williams and wife Helen of Wellston, OK. Daughter Nancy Pope and friend Bob Kirkhart of
Woodward, OK. One sister, Betty Byford and husband Bill of Yukon, OK.
She is also survived by grandchildren, Erin Sunday and husband Bret, Tara Gates and husband Jayson, Kyle Williams and wife Rachel, Tyler Williams, Jamey Williams, Brian Williams and wife Autumn, Dawn Williams, Logan Pope and wife Moriah, Kameron Hasik and husband Jared, and Wyatt Pope.
Leota was also blessed with 15 great-grand children.
