Leroy Meadows, age 82, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, January 13, 2025. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, husband, and friends.
Leroy was born on July 8, 1942. He was a lifelong resident of Decatur, where he married the love of his life, the late Dora Meadows, on October 8, 1963. That is where they raised three loving sons: Timothy (Brandy) Meadows of Decatur, Franklin (Sheri) Meadows of Decatur, and Lee (Lisa) Meadows of Johnson City. He devoted his life to God and was a lifelong member of Morning View Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Song Leader. Until his health started to decline, you could find him sitting in the front row of Morning View Baptist Church every Sunday Morning and Wednesday Evening, no matter if the church was full or empty. He retired from Seelbach and Company but enjoyed being a "Tree Surgeon/Tree Trimmer" and taking care of everyone's trees along with watching WWE Raw (World Wrestling Entertainment) on Monday Night. In his day-to-day life, his passion was singing hymnals, reading and studying the word of God, and leading people to the Lord.
Anyone who was fortunate enough to meet Leroy knew he was compassionate, caring, and never saw the bad in anything or anyone. He never turned a stranger away, if you
needed help, then he would help you without hesitation. He touched all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by parents: Carl and Becky Meadows; brothers, Clyde Meadows, Frank Meadows, Billy Meadows, William Meadows, Danny Meadows, Howard Meadows; sisters, Barbara Gene Fagg and Anna Sue Tilley.
He will be lovingly remembered by his thirteen grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, which includes his forever best friend, Asher; his brother, Kenneth Meadows; sister, Faye Stokes; several nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Morning View Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Couch officiating. Interment will follow in the Pisgah Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, in the Chapel of Decatur Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Morning View Baptist Church, 24345 TN 58,
